Kakao to Create 20,000 Youth Jobs Over 5 Years... Kim Bu-gyeom Expects "Digital Talent Development"
Youth Hope ON Project Partnership Agreement Signed
[Asia Economy Sejong=Reporter Son Seonhee] Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum and Kakao Chairman Kim Beom-su have joined hands to create jobs for young people. Kakao plans to create a total of 20,000 youth jobs over the next five years through a partnership with the government, of which 10,000 will be directly hired.
According to the Office for Government Policy Coordination on the 9th, the government and Kakao held a meeting at Kakao Pangyo Office in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province, in the morning and signed a partnership for the "Youth Hope ON Project" with the above details. Kakao plans to invest 500 billion KRW over the next five years to create new jobs.
The "Kakao Community," including Kakao's first-tier affiliates, will directly hire an average of 2,000 people annually over the next five years. In addition, the "AI Campus," originally established for employee training, will be opened to the general youth, aiming to nurture a total of 6,000 digital young talents over three years starting in 2024. Along with this, Kakao will invest 300 billion KRW over the next five years to support the founding of "100 startups."
Attending the meeting were government officials including Prime Minister Kim, Koo Yoon-chul, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and Park Hwa-jin, Vice Minister of Employment and Labor, as well as Kakao executives including Chairman Kim, Vice Chairmen Kim Sung-soo and Hong Eun-taek, and CEO-designate Namgoong Hoon.

Prime Minister Kim said, "The Kakao myth is the hope of young people," adding, "With Kakao's participation in Youth Hope ON, we expect the creation of more than 20,000 good jobs and talent development in the digital industry alone, as well as the emergence of a 'second and third Kakao.'" He continued, "I expect Kakao to set an example of win-win management among platform companies in the future," and urged, "Please take great interest in youth jobs and social contribution."
