Gwangju Seo-gu Supports Slate Disposal Costs... Up to 3.52 Million Won

[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is promoting the 'Slate Disposal Support Project' again this year to prevent health damage to residents caused by asbestos from old slate and to help improve the living environment of socially vulnerable groups.

According to Seo-gu on the 8th, the total project cost is about 150 million KRW, and it plans to support the demolition and disposal of slate from old houses and roof improvement.

The demolition and disposal also include non-residential buildings such as livestock sheds and warehouses.

For slate demolition and disposal of houses (including auxiliary buildings), support of up to 3.52 million KRW per household is available, and vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, low-income elderly living alone, and disabled persons will receive full support for demolition and disposal costs.

Also, non-residential buildings such as warehouses and livestock sheds with a slate area of up to 200㎡ can receive full support for demolition and disposal costs.

Roof improvement for general residents is supported up to 3 million KRW per household, while vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients can receive support up to 10 million KRW per household.

Residents who wish to apply can visit their local administrative welfare center or the Waste Management Team of the Cleaning Administration Division at Seo-gu Office by the 4th of next month to apply.

Seo-gu plans to select support recipients and conduct area surveys starting in April to proceed with the full-scale project.

A Seo-gu official said, "We hope for much interest and participation in the slate disposal and roof improvement support project to protect residents' health and create a pleasant living environment."

Meanwhile, Seo-gu has completed slate disposal for 486 households in the district with a total project cost of about 820 million KRW from 2013 to last year.
