On the 8th, LG Electronics announced that it has partnered with domestic metaverse platform company V Corporation to open a joint research and development (R&D) center at V Studio located in Hanam, Gyeonggi Province. Through this collaboration, the two companies will jointly develop LED walls optimized for ICVFX and cooperate on building V Corporation’s virtual studio in the future.
ICVFX is a technique that implements backgrounds with LED walls in studios and simultaneously films actors’ performances along with the virtual backgrounds displayed on the screen. Compared to the traditional chroma key technique, which overlays computer graphics (CG) backgrounds onto footage shot in front of a solid color backdrop, this method reduces content production time and costs while enabling more vivid and dynamic visuals, making it a next-generation content production method.
LG Electronics plans to develop LED signage optimized for virtual production environments by combining its unrivaled technology in the commercial display sector with V Corporation’s content planning and production capabilities. LG Electronics has secured a lineup of indoor LED products that meet diverse customer demands, including the ultra-high-definition micro LED LG Magnite, the Real Curve series with flexible modules, the Fine Pitch series delivering clear image quality, and the All-in-One series with built-in sound systems.
