Japan COVID-19 Cases Reach 68,039... Highest Monday Count
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Japan reached 68,039, marking the highest Monday count.
According to Japan's public broadcaster NHK on the 7th, this figure as of 6:30 AM decreased by 21,100 from the previous day but was 5,194 more than last Monday (January 31).
Mondays typically have the lowest daily new cases of the week due to reduced COVID-19 testing over the weekend.
The average daily number of confirmed cases over the past week was 90,177, 1.3 times higher than the previous week.
Currently, emergency measures including shortened restaurant operating hours and restrictions on alcohol service are in effect in 35 of Japan's 47 prefectures (metropolitan local governments).
