[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Doosan PureCell announced on the 7th that it has signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for collaboration on a demonstration project of fuel cells for ships, forming a consortium with Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Ltd and Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering.

Doosan PureCell stated, "This is a demonstration project utilizing a 600kW solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) as an auxiliary power unit for ships," and explained, "Our company will be responsible for the development and supply of the shipboard SOFC system, Shell will manage the demonstration project and handle the ordering and operation of the ship, and Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. will be responsible for the design and construction of the ship."
