Placement of Early Childhood Forest Instructors, Operation of Specialized Forest Experience Programs
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Andong City in Gyeongbuk is creating a new Early Childhood Forest Experience Center near the Andong City Children's Library.
The newly established Early Childhood Forest Experience Center will be developed in Jeongha-dong Jeongsang Residential District Park, covering an area of 10,000㎡ with a project budget of 200 million KRW. Outdoor experiential learning facilities such as spider web play, log crossing, as well as evacuation sites and safety equipment will be installed.
The detailed design and administrative procedures for the Early Childhood Forest Experience Center are currently underway. The project aims for completion in the second half of this year. Once completed, professional forest experience instructors will be assigned to operate specialized forest experience programs.
Since 2019, Andong City has been operating Early Childhood Forest Experience Centers in Pungcheon-myeon Millennium Forest and Gilan-myeon Gyeongmyeongsan Natural Recreation Forest. Last year, over 6,000 young children participated in forest experience activities, receiving positive responses from citizens.
The newly established Early Childhood Forest Experience Center is located in an urban area, making it more accessible compared to the existing two centers. It is adjacent to the Andong City Children's Library, and various experiential activities linked with the library will be provided.

An official from Andong City stated, “The early childhood forest is a precious urban space that reduces fine dust in the city, alleviates the heat island effect, and provides a green healing space,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure that growing children and residents can access green spaces within their living areas.”
