Candidate Yoon will arrive in Jeju tomorrow (the 5th) afternoon and begin his schedule by visiting the Jeju 4·3 Peace Park to pay respects. Afterward, he will visit the Electric Vehicle Battery Industrialization Center within the Jeju Advanced Science and Technology Complex, and then attend the People Power Party Jeju Provincial Party’s Victory Resolution Rally at 4:30 PM.
To appeal to Jeju voters, Yoon is expected to announce pledges related to Jeju.
The People Power Party Jeju Provincial Party has reportedly set key pledges for the presidential election period, including the complete resolution of Jeju 4·3, the prompt promotion of the second airport, construction of a new Jeju port, fostering Jeju-style future industries, and making Jeju a cultural and artistic hub.
In particular, regarding the Seoul-Jeju high-speed rail underwater tunnel construction pledged by the Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung, the People Power Party Jeju Provincial Party is strongly opposed, and Yoon is expected to present his stance on this issue.
Additionally, attention is focused on Yoon’s position on recent Jeju political issues such as the abolition of education councilors and the so-called “entry tax,” an environmental preservation fund imposed when visiting Jeju.
This will be Yoon Seok-yeol’s second visit to Jeju since October 13 of last year. At that time, he was a preliminary candidate during the party primary process, and this visit will be his first since being confirmed as the People Power Party candidate.
Although Jeju has about 550,000 voters, it is a politically symbolic region where the candidate who ranked first in Jeju in all previous presidential elections has been elected president. Therefore, local residents are paying close attention to Yoon’s remarks during his visit to Jeju tomorrow.
