Gyeongnam Province to Invest 650 Million Won to Support Development of Local Festivals
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] Gyeongnam Province has established the '2022 Local Festival Support Plan' to promote excellent local festivals as tourism resources.
On the 3rd, Gyeongnam Province announced that this year, in accordance with the 'Gyeongsangnam-do Local Festival Support Ordinance,' it will support a total of 24 festivals, including government-designated cultural tourism festivals, province-designated cultural tourism festivals, youth planning group-operated festivals, and small-scale local festivals, with 650 million KRW.
The government and province-designated cultural tourism festivals include 14 locations (such as Sancheong Herbal Medicine Festival, Tongyeong Hansan Battle Festival, Geoje Island Flower Festival, Namhae German Village Beer Festival, etc.), and budget support is planned until 2023.
Additionally, through the 'Youth Planning Group Operation Project,' programs planned by the future generation of the region will be directly introduced at festival sites to provide opportunities for them to grow as main forces. 21.56 million KRW will be supported for 2 festivals.
To enable local residents to plan and hold festivals themselves, the 'Small-scale Local Festival Support Project' will provide 5 million KRW per festival to a total of 8 festivals.
The two project targets will be selected through public contests in each city and county by March.
