“Will Widely Promote Jinju, the Beautiful City of Culture and Arts”
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Jinju City, Gyeongnam Province, has appointed singer Park Ki-young as an ambassador for Jinju City.
Jinju City and the Gyeongnam Culture and Arts Promotion Agency were selected for a national funding project last year and developed three types of region-specific immersive content packages themed around General Kim Si-min, the hero of the Battle of Jinju: VR videos, OST, and board games titled "Heroes of the Battle of Jinju."
Singer Park Ki-young performed the OST "Seorikkot" for the VR video.
Appointed as an ambassador for Jinju City, Park Ki-young will promote various local festivals such as the globally renowned Jinju Lantern Festival and the Gaecheon Arts Festival, and work to revitalize the culture and tourism of the beautiful cultural and artistic city of Jinju. It is expected that he will greatly contribute to widely promoting Jinju through domestic and international activities to enhance the city's prestige.
Singer Park Ki-young debuted in 1998 and is a singer-songwriter with numerous hit songs including "Last Love," "Blue Sky," "Walk," "Nabi," "Because of You," and "Nella Fantasia." He has released a total of eight full-length albums and has held solo concerts alongside releasing Christmas English albums, acoustic best albums, and the band Acoustic Blanc mini-album.
His 5th and 6th full-length albums, which include the self-written and composed title tracks "Nabi" and "Because of You," were nominated for the Korean Music Awards two years in a row, showcasing his abilities not only as a vocalist but also as a singer-songwriter.
He is also active across various genres without boundaries, from popular music to crossover. He won the 2012 tvN broadcast "Opera Star," and the theme song "Nella Fantasia," released in October 2015, has recorded about 26 million views on YouTube, approximately four times more than the original artist Sarah Brightman.
In December 2020, he released his first CCM track "I Want to Go Back," and in 2021, he continued steady activities by releasing two singles, "I'm not OK" and "Anbu."
