Gwangyang-si, 92% Payment Rate for 3rd Emergency Disaster Living Expenses
413 Billion Won Paid in 4 Days Through Intensive Distribution Before Seol Holiday
Unapplied Individuals Can Apply at Resident Registration Office in Their Address Area Until February 28
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City, Jeollanam-do, paid about 41.3 billion KRW to 137,687 people within 4 days of starting the distribution of the 3rd emergency disaster living expenses, reaching a payment rate of 92%.
Of the 300,000 KRW in the 3rd emergency disaster living expenses, 50,000 KRW was provided as Onnuri gift certificates, which revitalized traditional markets, and the timely payment of the emergency disaster living expenses was highly praised for helping ordinary households that faced heavy burdens purchasing holiday seasonal goods.
The local economy regained vitality in a short period by achieving a 92% payment rate within 4 days, largely due to the role of the ‘Visiting Civil Service Desk.’
The city operated the ‘Visiting Civil Service Desk’ at 134 locations such as village halls for 4 days to distribute the emergency disaster living expenses, providing convenience to applicants and preventing many people from gathering at the same time.
Additionally, to strengthen social distancing practices, a ‘day-specific application system (for apartments, application dates were divided by building)’ was implemented, achieving both rapid and safe payments.
Meanwhile, those who have not applied for the 3rd emergency disaster living expenses can visit the eup/myeon/dong office of their resident registration address as of January 6 this year and apply until February 28. Detailed information on eligibility and required documents can be found in the announcements section on the Gwangyang City Hall website.
Mayor Jeong Hyun-bok said, “I hope the 3rd emergency disaster living expenses will help household finances even a little,” and added, “I ask that the emergency disaster living expenses be used at small business owners’ shops, self-employed businesses, and traditional markets so that the payment effect circulates positively.”
