5 Major Crimes Decreased by 15.3% Without Major Incidents, 112 Reports Down 6%
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency announced the results of its "Comprehensive Security Measures for the Lunar New Year Holiday," which was implemented for 10 days from January 24 to February 2.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency stated that during the Lunar New Year holiday, Busan experienced a stable and peaceful holiday atmosphere without any major incidents or accidents, and that the total number of the five major crimes decreased by 15.3%, and 112 emergency calls decreased by 6% compared to the same period last year.
During the comprehensive security measures period for the Lunar New Year holiday, the police maximized the deployment of available personnel, including local police, detectives, and police riot squads, to strengthen patrol activities.
Additionally, based on the crime prevention diagnosis results conducted by the Crime Prevention Officer (CPO) team focusing on vulnerable areas, patrols and stationed duty posts were combined to make every effort to prevent crime.
As a result of phased intensive management during the special traffic control period, traffic accidents decreased by 34%, from 112 cases to 74 cases, and injuries decreased by 50.3%, from 179 to 89 people.
