Biden Rewarns Russia at UN Security Council: "Serious Consequences if Ukraine Invaded"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] U.S. President Joe Biden on the 31st (local time) once again warned that Russia would face swift and severe consequences if it invades Ukraine.
President Biden issued a statement regarding the UN Security Council meeting addressing the Ukraine situation, saying, "If Russia abandons diplomacy and decides to attack Ukraine, it will be held accountable."
He emphasized, "It will face swift and severe consequences," adding, "The United States, along with its allies and partners, is prepared for all scenarios." He also called for diplomatic dialogue, stating, "If Russia seriously addresses our security concerns through dialogue, the United States and its allies and partners will continue to engage sincerely."
Despite Russia's opposition, the Security Council meeting proceeded as scheduled, with all 15 member states except China expressing their positions or abstaining.
President Biden said, "The United States detailed Russia's threats to Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity at today's meeting," emphasizing, "The world must calmly face the threatening actions of Russia and be prepared to respond to the risks these actions pose to all of us."
