Local Media: "Disappeared from Radar... 2 People Onboard"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heeyoon] On the 31st, Kyodo News and NHK reported that a Japan Air Self-Defense Force F15 fighter jet training over the Sea of Japan disappeared from radar.
According to Kyodo News, an F15 fighter jet belonging to the Komatsu Air Base Flight Training Group of the Air Self-Defense Force in Ishikawa Prefecture took off from the base around 5:30 PM and disappeared from radar while flying over the Sea of Japan.
The fighter jet took off for training and vanished from radar over the Sea of Japan about 5 km northwest of Komatsu Air Base. It is reported that two people were on board the missing fighter jet.
The Kanazawa Coast Guard announced that at the time the fighter jet disappeared from radar, a man near Hashitachi Fishing Port in Kaga City, Ishikawa Prefecture, reported seeing a red light over the sea.
The Japanese Ministry of Defense stated that they are conducting search operations and gathering information, considering the possibility that the fighter jet may have crashed.
