Minister Seo Wook Visits 'North Korea Missile Operation Command Post'... "Immediate Response in Case of Emergency"
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] On the morning of the 31st, just one day after North Korea's launch of the medium-range ballistic missile 'Hwasong-12,' Defense Minister Seo Wook made a surprise visit to the Army Missile Command (hereafter Missile Command), the key unit conducting missile operations, to inspect readiness.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, Minister Seo referred to North Korea's seven missile launches in January alone, stating, "Recognizing the gravity of the current situation, our military must maintain a full military readiness posture capable of immediate response under any circumstances."
He also mentioned that North Korea's successive launches are "a direct and serious threat to us and a significant challenge to international peace and security," emphasizing that the military's missile detection and response capabilities are more important than ever.
Minister Seo urged, "The Missile Command must keep in mind that it is a core unit of deterrence and a powerful force that provides trust to the people through overwhelming strategic victory in times of emergency."
He further stressed, "Through regular operational inspections and training, execution capability must be enhanced to enable immediate response in emergencies."
