[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] The waterfront area near Sorae Port, a representative tourist destination in Incheon, has been transformed into a nighttime scenic spot.
On the 30th, Namdong-gu, Incheon announced that on the 27th, it held a lighting ceremony at Haerum Park in Nonhyeon-dong to mark the completion of the first phase of the 'Sorae Area Waterfront Nightscape Project.'
The district created a nighttime landscape along a 1.5km section of the waterfront at Haerum Park near Sorae Port, featuring colorful lights and impressive media displays.
The 50-meter-long wooden deck, themed 'Path of Light,' vividly expresses the sea route using six mapping projectors capable of various image projections and speakers. This art through light and sound allows for diverse content to be applied according to festivals or seasons.
Additionally, the waterfront promenade stretching along the coastline was renovated into a bright and safe green corridor by replacing 57 security lights and installing 61 new tree lights, improving what was previously a somewhat dark path.
At the base of the Shrimp Tower, a landmark of Sorae Port, eight gobo lights were installed to create specialized patterned lighting, offering a mysterious experience as if floating on water.
The Sorae nightscape project is part of the Sorae Tourism Belt construction project, with a budget of 1.5 billion KRW, including special grants.
Since 'Sorae' was selected as one of the top 10 nighttime scenic spots in Incheon's Nightscape Plan in 2018, the district began the first phase of the project in September last year after conducting basic and detailed design services and holding community briefings starting in May 2020.
Throughout this process, the district focused on establishing a coastal scenic line that satisfies both local residents and external tourists, ensuring it harmonizes naturally with various developments and tourism and convenience facilities such as the Sorae Port National Fishing Harbor Project and the modernization of the Sorae Port Fish Market.
The district plans to complete the second phase of the project by June this year, which includes creating photo zones through projector mapping displays throughout the Sorae area.
