[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] A second worker has been found at the Sampo Industrial stone quarry site in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, but is presumed dead.
On the 29th, the fire authorities announced that at around 4:25 PM, they additionally rescued B (55), a 50-year-old excavator operator and contract worker, but he is presumed dead.
The fire authorities explained, "The 50-year-old worker is also presumed dead and is being transported to the hospital after rescue."
The fire authorities are conducting a search near the reservoir and water puddles to find C (52), a drilling machine operator.
A fire official said, "We are searching near the point where the buried equipment was found," adding, "There was no blasting work on that day, and about 300,000 cubic meters of soil collapsed and buried the area."
The fire authorities are deploying six lighting vehicles to prepare for search operations continuing into the night. Currently, 13 excavators and 20 rescue personnel are working in shifts to carry out the rescue operations.
A total of 15 people, including workers, reported to work at the Sampo Industrial stone quarry site in Yangju on that day, but no additional casualties have been confirmed among other workers assigned to different tasks.
The fire authorities explained, "Three people worked at the burial site, and we were informed that the workers had been working even on holidays," adding, "A total of 15 people, including 12 workers with different duties, reported to work."
At around 10:08 AM that day, at the Sampo Industrial Yangju quarry in Dohari, Eunhyeon-myeon, Yangju City, three workers were buried when soil collapsed during aggregate extraction work. The soil collapsed while drilling holes downward for aggregate blasting work.

The fire authorities recovered the body of daily worker A (28) at around 3:02 PM that day and transported it to the hospital. A was known to be involved in drilling machine operations and was found at the site around 1:44 PM.
