According to CNN on the 28th (local time), an off-duty police officer caught a man in his 40s armed robber at a supermarket in Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain, on the 24th.
According to CCTV footage released on Twitter by the Catalonia police on the 27th, the officer had come to the supermarket to buy groceries and witnessed a suspicious situation near the checkout counter.
The cashier appeared very anxious, and a man was standing beside her. Sensing something suspicious, the officer first asked the cashier what was going on. Then, the man standing next to the cashier replied, "It's okay," on her behalf.
The officer then entered from the entrance and immediately grabbed the man from behind. After pinning the man down, the officer found a weapon in the man's pocket.
The officer identified himself to the supermarket customers to reassure them. Soon after, the police arrived and arrested the man on charges of armed robbery. Fortunately, the cashier was reported to be unharmed.
