Heo Kyung-young Reacts to Rejection of '4-Person Debate' Broadcast Ban...Appeal to Be Submitted Today
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Gyumin] Heo Kyung-young, the presidential candidate of the National Revolutionary Party, expressed his intention to appeal against the court's decision to dismiss the injunction request banning the '4-party TV debate' broadcast.
A representative of Heo's campaign stated on the 29th, "It should have obviously been accepted, but (the dismissal decision) is a ruling without principle," explaining the reason for the appeal.
They plan to submit the appeal petition to the Seoul Western District Court around 5 p.m. that day.
Earlier, the Civil Division 21 of the Seoul Western District Court (Chief Judge Park Byung-tae) dismissed the injunction request to ban the '4-party TV debate' broadcast the previous day, stating that it could be seen as a reasonable discrimination based on the discretion of the media organization.
Heo's camp revealed that they are also considering countermeasures after submitting the appeal petition. A representative said, "Although no decision has been made yet, if the 4-party debate is forced, we are also considering Heo holding a solo public debate," adding, "By seeing which side has higher viewership ratings, we might understand (public sentiment)."
