On the 29th, according to the police, the Seodaemun Police Station in Seoul has booked and is investigating Mr. A (64) on charges of habitual theft.
Mr. A is accused of putting bread such as sliced bread, castella, and cookies into prepared shopping bags and taking them from an unmanned bakery in Seodaemun-gu on four occasions.
He committed the first crime around 6 a.m. on the 19th, and repeated the crime at the same bakery around 5:45 a.m. two days later on the 21st. It is also reported that he stole bread again around 6:20 a.m. on the 25th.
The bakery owner, suspicious of the continuous disappearance of bread, staked out nearby and reported Mr. A’s crime to the police on the 27th after witnessing it.
According to the bakery owner, Mr. A scooped about 500,000 to 600,000 won worth of baked goods into his bag at a time. The resulting damage amounts to about 2 million won.
The bakery owner said, "I have been operating the bakery unmanned for four years, but this kind of sweeping theft is the first."
Meanwhile, Mr. A reportedly admitted to the charges during police investigation, saying, "I committed the crime due to financial difficulties."

The police secured the bakery’s CCTV footage to verify the exact number of crimes and circumstances, and plan to apply for a pre-arrest warrant as soon as the investigation is completed.
