View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the afternoon of the 27th, the government held a Standing Committee meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) chaired by Suh Hoon, Director of the National Security Office, to review the situation in Ukraine.
The attendees first agreed to fully mobilize all available security and diplomatic capabilities to thoroughly manage and support quarantine measures in order to quickly overcome the domestic COVID-19 situation, including the recent rapid spread of Omicron. This includes ▲military medical support ▲implementation of special quarantine measures for domestic and overseas troops ▲cooperation with the U.S. Forces Korea on quarantine ▲and cooperation with the international community on quarantine efforts.
They also reviewed the situation related to Ukraine, the potential impact on the Korean economy in case of emergencies, and countermeasures, and decided to continue taking measures to ensure the safety and protection of Korean nationals and companies on site.
Furthermore, they checked the preparation status for dispatching the government delegation to the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and agreed to provide necessary support for the safe participation of the Korean athletes in the event.

Today's meeting included Nam Young-sook, Economic Advisor, Joo Young-joon, Director General of Industrial Policy at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Kim Byung-hwan, Director of Economic Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to discuss measures related to Ukraine.
