Naju-si Finalizes 11.8 Billion Won Budget for 2nd Disaster Relief Fund

[Naju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Naju City in Jeollanam-do has finalized a budget plan of 11.8 billion KRW for the payment of the 2nd round of COVID-19 disaster relief funds.

According to the city on the 27th, the Naju City Council held the 240th extraordinary session and approved the first supplementary budget plan totaling 902.2 billion KRW, which includes the disaster relief fund payment budget of 11.8 billion KRW.

This extraordinary session was a 'one-point council' held solely to process the disaster relief fund payment budget, with the plenary session opening, standing committee review, special budget and accounts committee review, and final plenary approval all completed on the same day.

The total amount of the first supplementary budget increased by 13.4 billion KRW from the original budget of 888.8 billion KRW to 902.2 billion KRW, with only the general account increased.

Among this, the 11.8 billion KRW allocated for disaster relief fund payments will primarily utilize the increased local allocation tax revenue.

Provincial subsidies and special allocation tax reflect 1.6 billion KRW of pre-approval budget established after the original budget compilation.

The 2nd emergency disaster relief fund of Naju City will be paid to all citizens registered as residents within Naju City as of the official announcement date on the 24th, including marriage immigrants.

The support fund will be 100,000 KRW per person and is scheduled to be paid in Naju Sarang gift certificates next month.

A city official said, "We prepared a one-point budget plan reflecting the 2nd disaster relief fund to help stabilize citizens' lives and revitalize the local economy amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis."

He added, "We sincerely thank the city council members who actively cooperated to ensure the budget plan for the support fund payment was processed promptly."
