Sancheong-gun Implements Special Quarantine Measures for Lunar New Year Holiday... Operation of Medical Institutions and Screening Clinics
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam announced on the 28th that it will implement special quarantine measures during the Lunar New Year holiday until February 2 to prevent and contain the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The main focus of this plan is to strengthen quarantine in areas closely related to residents' daily lives and to create a safe holiday atmosphere by operating screening clinics during the Lunar New Year holiday period.
The county will first operate a comprehensive situation room composed of 13 members in 5 teams to make every effort to block COVID-19. It will also focus on monitoring those in self-quarantine and conduct on-site inspections and rapid situation reporting in case of suspected unauthorized departures for intensive management.
In particular, quarantine measures will be strengthened for facilities closely related to residents' daily lives. When using transportation means and facilities, mask-wearing will be mandatory, disinfection will be conducted after each operation ends, the bus terminal facilities will be disinfected frequently, and social distancing will be enforced while waiting for boarding.
Regarding the public cemetery (Bonhyangwon), expected to have many visitors during the holiday, temporary closures of burial sites, columbariums, ritual rooms, and restaurants will be implemented to tighten quarantine.
Additionally, quarantine rule compliance (such as quarantine passes, restrictions on private gatherings, operating hour limits, and mask-wearing) will be intensively inspected at restaurants and cafes with many visitors, as well as vulnerable facilities (foreign workplaces, nursing hospitals/facilities, traditional markets, etc.).
During the holiday period, one emergency medical institution, 11 medical institutions open during the holiday, and 12 pharmacies will be designated to ensure no inconvenience in medical treatment and medicine purchase. Information on safety over-the-counter drug stores available at night will also be announced.
Information on medical institutions and pharmacies open during the holiday can be obtained by contacting the Health and Medical Center Emergency Medical Countermeasures Situation Room or the fire station. Screening clinics for COVID-19 response will operate from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. even during the holiday period.
A county official said, “With Omicron becoming the dominant strain, the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases is expected to increase during the Lunar New Year holiday. We ask residents to refrain from visiting hometowns and relatives during the holiday, and if unavoidable, please visit in small groups after receiving the third vaccination.”
