LG CNS Introduces Subscription-Based OT Security Service at 'OT Security Tech Day 2022'
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] LG CNS, a digital transformation (DX) specialist company, introduced a subscription-based operational technology (OT) security service at the ‘OT Security Tech Day 2022’ webinar held online on the 26th.
LG CNS focused on the difficulties customers face hesitating to adopt OT security due to the initial high costs. Previously, customers had to pay a lump sum of at least several billion won for solution implementation and enter into separate management contracts.
Going forward, by using LG CNS services, customers can pay the implementation and maintenance fees in monthly or annual subscription installments. Customers can receive LG CNS’s excellent OT security services without financial burden and secure additional resources to invest in other businesses.
OT refers to ‘Operational Technology’ that operates large-scale facilities such as smart factories, power plants, and dams using IT technologies like AI and big data. As OT systems increasingly connect to external networks beyond closed networks, the importance of OT security has grown.
LG CNS’s OT security service provides all stages of service including consulting, vulnerability diagnosis, solution implementation, and real-time monitoring. It also protects PLCs, devices that control equipment according to set rules, as well as IT systems managing production schedules. LG CNS has accumulated OT security expertise for various large-scale production facilities in electronics, petroleum, chemical, energy, and pharmaceutical industries.
To provide customers with the best subscription-based security service, LG CNS is actively promoting open innovation. It has partnered with ‘Claroty,’ a global OT security leader from Israel, and collaborates with domestic companies possessing OT security expertise such as ‘Samjong KPMG’ and ‘In the Forest.’ Based on partnerships, it blocks external hacking attacks, viruses, and malware infiltration, and prevents internal information leaks. It also prevents production line shutdowns caused by cyberattacks.
At the ‘OT Security Tech Day 2022’ webinar, six sessions were held on topics including subscription-based OT security services, this year’s OT security trends, hacking demonstrations, and vulnerability resolutions.
Last year, LG CNS launched the security business brand ‘SecuXper.’ Along with this, it declared its role as an ‘MSSP operator.’ MSSP refers to a specialized company that comprehensively performs security business including consulting, solution implementation, and operation. It means providing all security services customers need. The reason for introducing the subscription service this time is to innovate customer value with a reasonable cost structure.
