LG Household & Health Care announced on the 24th that it held the '2021 Women with Disabilities Wing Attachment' online results sharing meeting to evaluate last year's project achievements and share the experiences of the beneficiaries. Launched in 2020, the 'Women with Disabilities Wing Attachment' is the first domestic 'customized assistive device support project for women with disabilities,' providing each woman with disabilities engaged in social activities or raising children with assistive devices tailored to her needs, worth around 5 million KRW per person.

This project is operated with the 'LG Household & Health Care Happy Smile Fund,' created from a portion of salaries donated by LG Household & Health Care employees and matched by the company, with participation from the Beautiful Foundation and the Gyeonggi Rehabilitation Engineering Service Research Support Center. So far, 55 women with disabilities have received assistive devices and experienced changes in economic activities and family life.

The event held on the 22nd at a studio in Seoul limited on-site attendees to a minimum in accordance with COVID-19 prevention guidelines, while beneficiaries participated via real-time video enabling interactive communication. The event was hosted by Choi Gukhwa, who was hired as a disabled anchor by KBS last year. Anchor Choi was a first-phase project beneficiary and received a standing wheelchair and height-adjustable work table, among other devices.
?
Second-phase beneficiaries have received support such as optical character readers, standing wheelchairs, vehicle assistive devices, book scanners, and eye-tracking mouse devices, experiencing new changes in their lives. At the results sharing meeting held that day, participants shared changes in daily life due to assistive devices, regained self-esteem, and encouraged each other by pledging new challenges in life.
?
Kwon Chan, Secretary General of the Beautiful Foundation, said, "It was impressive to see beneficiaries discovering their potential and strengthening their will to live," adding, "We will strive to expand social participation of women with disabilities and support their daily lives."
