Gmarket and Auction, Survey Results on Lunar New Year Gift Plans
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] Ahead of this year's Lunar New Year holiday, it was found that 7 out of 10 consumers plan to focus their gifts only on family members.
According to Gmarket and Auction, a survey on Lunar New Year gift plans was conducted from the 7th to the 13th with a total of 2,868 customers. The results showed that 7 out of 10 respondents (69%) answered that they would "focus gifts on family." This figure far exceeds the 16% who chose "to take care of relatives or acquaintances they cannot meet" and the 15% who chose "no change."
The top planned gift item for Lunar New Year was health supplements (31%). This was followed by fresh and processed foods (20%), digital and home appliances (13%), daily necessities (11%), gift certificates (10%), and cosmetics (7%). The budget for Lunar New Year gifts was recorded in the order of under 100,000 won (24%), 100,000 to 200,000 won (24%), 200,000 to 300,000 won (21%), over 500,000 won (19%), 300,000 to 400,000 won (7%), and 400,000 to 500,000 won (5%).
