Hoam Neulsolgil, Geumcheon Sports Park Triangle Park... Geumcheon-gu Opens 3 Major Barrier-Free Deck Trails
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yuseonghun) has opened barrier-free deck trails in three locations?Hoam Neulsogil, Geumcheon Sports Park, and Samgak Park?so that residents can heal their minds amidst the bleak urban environment.
The barrier-free deck trails are forest paths designed with a width of over 2 meters and a slope of less than 8%, allowing walking-vulnerable groups such as the disabled and elderly to enjoy the beautiful forest scenery, recreation, and healing benefits of the woods.
First, the section from Hoapsa to Hoam No.1 Tunnel (1.2 km), established in 2019, was extended by 0.58 km to reach Heungsan Badminton Court. Hoam Neulsogil means "the path where pine breezes always blow" and connects to the Seoul Dulle-gil Gwanaksan section, creating a tranquil atmosphere throughout all four seasons.
Additionally, a barrier-free deck trail was created over a total distance of 1.12 km from Geumcheon Sports Park’s Geumcheon Reservoir to Doksan Badminton Court. Geumcheon Sports Park is a representative park of Geumcheon-gu and a popular spot frequently visited by residents of the neighboring Gwanak-gu. The newly added deck trail, combined with the existing walking paths, is expected to receive great responses from visitors. This year, Geumcheon-gu plans to extend the barrier-free forest trail by 0.43 km and build a sky bridge (tentative name) crossing Gamrocheon Park from the Geumcheon Reservoir Sports Ground.
Furthermore, a 0.41 km barrier-free deck walking trail was constructed in Samgak Park, which has slopes. Walking-vulnerable individuals who previously found access difficult can now comfortably use the park.
Geumcheon-gu installed nighttime lighting along the entire sections of the three locations, including Hoam Neulsogil, so residents can safely enjoy the trails even at night. The lighting levels were set appropriately for forest areas (natural green zones) to prevent ecological disruption caused by light pollution.
