Gyeongbuk Uljin-gun Accelerates Development of Wangpicheon Natural Ecology Experience Complex
Scheduled for Completion in June This Year, a Complex Space Combining Ecological Education and Experiential Tourism
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwiyeol] Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk is accelerating the promotion of the ‘Wangpicheon Natural Ecology Experience Complex,’ which will transform the Wangpicheon watershed, boasting pristine nature, into an ecological tourism hub.
The Wangpicheon Natural Ecology Experience Complex, reflected in the basic plan for managing the scenic conservation area, is a project to remodel the Wangpi Branch School building in Wangpi-ri, Geumgangsong-myeon.
To create a rural-urban exchange center and ecological education and experience facilities, the basic and detailed design service was completed in June 2020, and construction began in September, currently showing 80% progress. It is scheduled to be completed in June.
Main facilities include an information center and office on the first floor of the visitor center, along with a woodworking experience room, and a seminar room and experience room on the second floor. The Wangpicheon Natural School will be equipped with a specialty product sales area, VR experience hall, exhibition room, lecture room, multipurpose room, and an indoor playground for children. Outdoors, plans include a parking lot, rest shelter, forest experience adventure facilities, ecological trails, ecological wetlands, and observation decks.
Uljin-gun plans to finalize the facility name through a naming contest and seek reasonable operation plans through pilot operation.
