Goheung-gun Implements Special Quarantine Measures to Prevent COVID-19 Spread During Lunar New Year Holiday

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung-gun, Jeollanam-do, has designated a special quarantine period of 24 days (1.10.~2.2), including the Lunar New Year holiday, to strengthen quarantine management for a safe Lunar New Year free from COVID-19. During the Lunar New Year holiday period (1.29 ~ 2.2), a comprehensive COVID-19 countermeasure situation room will be operated.

This Lunar New Year is a more serious situation than ever due to the continuous increase in infections in the province caused by the spread of Omicron. Goheung-gun will conduct special inspections on multi-use facilities with a high risk of infection during the special quarantine period, such as restaurants, cafes, entertainment facilities, transportation facilities like terminals, workplaces employing foreigners, and nursing welfare facilities vulnerable to infection.

Through various promotions including street campaigns urging strong social distancing to raise awareness of the risk of Omicron infection and the possibility of a rapid increase in confirmed cases, as well as village broadcasts, the county plans to encourage all residents to actively participate in COVID-19 prevention.

Additionally, during the Lunar New Year holiday, screening clinics will be installed and operated at three locations including the county health center and two general hospitals. A rapid epidemiological investigation system will be maintained in case of confirmed cases to ensure thorough emergency response and patient management for COVID-19.

A county official said, “To prevent the spread of COVID-19, we ask that you refrain from visiting hometown relatives and traveling during this Lunar New Year. If visiting is unavoidable, please strictly follow the core quarantine rules after receiving the third vaccination.”
