[Box Office] "Watch the Movies You Want"... 'Seupaideomaen' First to Surpass 7 Million Viewers
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Marvel's movie 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has surpassed 7 million viewers for the first time since the pandemic.
According to the Korea Film Council's integrated box office data on the 21st, 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' attracted 26,517 viewers on the 20th, bringing its cumulative audience to 7,007,488.
This is the first time a movie released after the COVID-19 pandemic has exceeded 7 million viewers. The film, which premiered on the 15th of last month, has steadily drawn audiences and maintained its position at the top of the box office. In North America, it also secured the number one spot at the weekend box office for four consecutive weeks, earning $33.01 million.
It is significant that the popular Marvel series movie has broken the solid 7 million barrier, which was considered impossible after the pandemic. This confirms the industry's expectation that "fun, good movies, and must-watch movies are seen in theaters."
In second place, 'Special Delivery' starring Park So-dam attracted 16,103 viewers, with a cumulative total of 305,633. The animated film 'Sing 2' drew 14,915 viewers, ranking third. Since its release on the 5th, it has amassed a total audience of 556,826.
'Blood of a Police Officer,' starring Jo Jin-woong and Choi Woo-shik, attracted 9,230 viewers, placing fourth. Additionally, Lady Gaga's 'House of Gucci' ranked fifth, the foreign film 'Resident Evil: Raccoon City' came in sixth, and the musical film 'West Side Story' took seventh place.
