Passenger Cars Subsidized 12 Million KRW, Cargo Trucks 20 Million KRW... Gyeongbuk Province Accelerates Electric Vehicle Distribution This Year
Electric Vehicle Supply Plan to Support 9,155 Units, 1.7 Times More Than Last Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Gyeongbuk Province will accelerate the supply of electric vehicles this year.
Gyeongbuk Province announced on the 20th that it will supply 9,155 vehicles, 1.7 times more than the 5,431 units supported last year.
By vehicle type, support will be provided for the purchase of 5,244 electric passenger cars, 2,648 electric cargo vehicles, 63 electric buses, and 1,200 electric two-wheelers.
Purchase subsidies vary depending on the vehicle type and price. Electric passenger cars receive up to 12 million KRW, electric cargo vehicles up to 20 million KRW, and electric two-wheelers up to 1.8 million KRW.
If you wish to purchase an electric vehicle, visit the dealership of the desired vehicle model to sign a contract, then submit the contract, application form, and required documents to the environmental department of the respective city or county.
However, to prevent delivery delays by manufacturers and to manage actual buyers, if the vehicle is not delivered within two months after the selection of the support recipient, the support may be canceled or the recipient may be changed to a waiting list.
The cumulative number of electric vehicles registered in Gyeongbuk Province has been rapidly increasing every year.
Since private supply began in 2013, only 2,001 vehicles were registered over six years until 2018, but the numbers rose to 4,051 in 2019, 7,051 in 2020, and reached 11,240 by the end of last year.
It is expected to surpass 20,000 by the end of this year.
As of the end of December last year, a total of 5,517 electric vehicle chargers were installed in Gyeongbuk Province, averaging 2.03 electric vehicles per charger, which is considered excellent.
Gyeongbuk Province plans to further increase chargers centered on key demand areas in each city and county to ensure that charging inconvenience does not become an obstacle when purchasing and using electric vehicles.
Choi Young-sook, Director of the Environment, Forestry and Resources Bureau of Gyeongbuk Province, said, “About 14% of greenhouse gas emissions and fine dust emissions come from the road transport sector,” adding, “We will continue to support the supply of zero-emission electric vehicles to accelerate carbon neutrality in the transport sector and improve air quality.”
