[Featured Stock] YJM Games Rises on MS Blizzard Acquisition News... "MR Partner Spotlighted"
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] YJM Games is showing strong performance following news that Microsoft (MS) acquired game developer Activision Blizzard for 82 trillion won to advance its metaverse business. YJM Games is a partner of MS and the largest shareholder of OneImmers, a metaverse developer.
As of 9:31 a.m. on the 19th, YJM Games was trading at 3,645 won, up 22.11% (660 won) compared to the previous trading day.
Foreign media outlets such as Bloomberg and Reuters reported on the 18th (local time) that MS is in the final stages of negotiations to acquire the U.S. game developer Activision Blizzard for approximately $68.7 billion (about 82 trillion won) in an all-cash deal. This is the largest acquisition and merger (M&A) in the IT industry to date.
The industry views MS's acquisition of Activision Blizzard as a strategic move to fully launch its metaverse business. Along with MS, companies like Apple and Meta (formerly Facebook) are recognizing promising business growth potential and recently transforming into metaverse companies. According to global consulting group PwC, the global metaverse market is expected to grow from $148.5 billion in 2021 to $1.5 trillion (about 1,788 trillion won) by 2030.

YJM Games previously participated as a partner in the Mixed Reality (MR) vision and Korean market strategy briefing hosted by Microsoft. Its affiliate Action Square secured SK Telecom and Microsoft (MS) console alliance as the publisher for Anvil.
