'Gu Ja-eunho' LS Group Donates 2 Billion KRW to Community Chest of Korea
Utilization for Basic Livelihood Support, Education, and Housing Environment Improvement for Socially Vulnerable Groups
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] LS Group announced on the 19th that it has donated 2 billion KRW to the Community Chest of Korea (Fruit of Love) as a neighborly love fund.
This donation will be used in areas such as basic livelihood support for vulnerable groups, education and housing environment improvement, health and medical support, and strengthening social care. LS has been donating to the Community Chest of Korea every year since 2009.
An LS Group official stated, “Our management philosophy is to not turn away neighbors in need but to create greater value together,” adding, “We plan to fulfill our corporate social responsibility through continuous sharing activities in the future.”
In November last year, LS Group also held the ‘Hot Heart Sharing’ event, delivering kimchi for kimjang, winter blankets, native honey, and other items worth about 100 million KRW to approximately 800 vulnerable households in Anseong City, Gyeonggi Province, where the group’s training center is located.
Along with this, the ‘LS Dream Science Class,’ which allows local elementary school students to experience science experiments and cultural activities that are usually difficult to access during vacation periods, has been held 16 times from 2013 to this year.
Overseas, since 2007, LS has selected and dispatched over 1,000 members of the LS University Student Overseas Volunteer Group, consisting of university students and LS employees, to four countries: Vietnam, India, Bangladesh, and Cambodia. Each year, LS builds LS Dream Schools?buildings with 8 to 10 classrooms?in the dispatched areas. To date, a total of 18 Dream Schools have been completed in locations such as Haiphong, Hai Duong, Ho Chi Minh City, and Dong Nai in Vietnam.
