Yeonggwang-gun Accepts Applications for 'Clean Livestock Farms' Until the 4th of Next Month

[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 17th that it is accepting applications for the designation of 'Clean Livestock Farms' until the 4th of next month to create a pleasant rural environment by improving livestock odor.

The Clean Livestock Farm system, operated by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, refers to excellent farms that practice compliance with livestock breeding density, proper treatment of livestock manure, farm landscaping, and reduction of farm odor.

Farmers who wish to be designated can fill out and submit the application form available at the respective eup/myeon office.

Afterward, the county conducts a document review, and for farms that pass, the Livestock Environment Management Institute conducts an on-site visit to evaluate 13 items including breeding density, installation of disinfection facilities, cleanliness of livestock barns, occurrence of odor, farm landscaping status, and maintenance of disinfection logs.

If a farm scores 70 points or more out of 100, it is designated as a Clean Livestock Farm.

Designated farms receive a farm signboard and benefits such as priority eligibility and increased project volume when applying for livestock projects this year, including support projects for livestock manure treatment.

Oh Jongun, head of the Horticulture and Livestock Division, said, "Creating clean livestock farms is essential for sustainable livestock farming that can coexist with local residents," and added, "We ask livestock farmers to actively apply to continuously receive the designation to improve the image of livestock farming."

Meanwhile, the Clean Livestock Farm designation system has been in effect since 2017, and there are currently a total of 95 designated farms in the area (42 Korean cattle, 11 dairy cows, 17 pigs, 21 chickens, 4 ducks).
