Sancheong-gun, 'Ujeonghaksa' Public Academy Achieves Best Ever College Entrance Results in 2022
Early Admission Success: Accepted to Prestigious Korean Universities Including Seoul National University and KAIST
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The dormitory-type public academy 'Ujeong Haksa' in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, has firmly established itself as a cradle for nurturing local talent.
The Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Foundation announced on the 17th that all 21 academy students who applied through the early admission process for the 2022 academic year were accepted into major prestigious universities in Korea.
According to local schools and Ujeong Haksa, these academy students were finally admitted to major universities in Seoul such as Seoul National University, Yonsei University, and Korea University, as well as special universities like KAIST and Pohang University of Science and Technology, and regional flagship national universities such as Pusan National University and Kyungpook National University.
This is the highest number of university admissions since the opening of Ujeong Haksa. Sancheong-gun and the Local Scholarship Foundation believe that the solid operation of Ujeong Haksa, along with continuous cooperation in supporting public education with local middle and high schools, has been instrumental.
It is especially regarded as the result of the hard work and dedication of local middle and high school teachers who did their best to guide the students.
Ujeong Haksa also provides intensive education in major subjects such as Korean, English, and Mathematics based on admissions analysis from a well-known Seoul entrance exam specialist institution.
Additionally, it offers tailored classes by proficiency level, one-on-one personal statement writing for high school students, interview special lectures, and customized college admission counseling, providing a comprehensive university entrance service.
Ujeong Haksa was established by Sancheong-gun in March 2008 to improve the poor educational environment in the region and prevent the outflow of local talent. It is a public academy that selects outstanding middle and high school students from the Sancheong area for focused after-school education.
Ujeong Haksa renovated the old Jipum Elementary School building in Jeonggok-ri, Sancheong-eup, and the dormitory was built by Booyoung and donated to Sancheong-gun.
Sancheong-gun and the Local Scholarship Foundation cite the excellent faculty from a famous entrance exam specialist institution, high-quality facilities such as the cafeteria as a dormitory-type public academy, and support from senior graduates as the secrets to Ujeong Haksa’s success.
One of Ujeong Haksa’s greatest strengths is its senior graduates. For several years, academy graduates have formed a group called 'Sanul,' meaning 'Let’s be the fence of Sancheong,' and have been volunteering their talents by mentoring juniors on career paths and college admissions every year after the entrance exam season.
The county had directly operated Ujeong Haksa until 2019, when it was entrusted to the Sancheong-gun Local Scholarship Foundation.
