Songpa-gu Dolbom SOS Center Meal Support Service Introduces 'Reusable Insulated Bags'
Reducing Disposable Products in Eco-Friendly Delivery, Warm Meals Delivered to Care Recipients... Park Seong-su, District Mayor, "Care SOS Center is a Health and Welfare Integrated Window... Leading the Resolution of Care Blind Spots"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has introduced 'reusable insulated bags' to the meal support service of the Care SOS Center starting from the 1st of this month, establishing an eco-friendly delivery environment and delivering warm meals to care recipients.
Since last year, the district has installed 'Care SOS Centers' in 27 community service centers, deploying care managers to provide eight major care services?temporary home care, short-term facilities, accompaniment support, residential convenience, meal support, welfare checks, health support, and information counseling?to residents facing difficulties in daily life due to sudden accidents or illnesses, thereby operating a detailed welfare safety net.
In particular, residential convenience services such as simple home repairs, cleaning, and disinfection, as well as accompaniment support services that assist elderly residents with mobility difficulties in traveling to COVID-19 vaccination centers, have received great responses. The district explained that in 2021, a total of 1,548 people received 4,003 customized care services.
This time, the meal support service replaced the vinyl bags previously used for lunchbox packaging and delivery with reusable insulated bags. This initiative aims not only to maintain warmth and deliver delicious meals but also to reduce disposable waste and take the lead in carbon neutrality.
Lunchboxes contained in the insulated bags are delivered to the recipient households through care managers. The bags feature the phrase 'Songpa-gu Care SOS Center' to enhance promotional effects, and after meal delivery, the bags are not collected but hung on door handles to be reused for the next service.
This year, Songpa-gu plans to increase the annual individual usage limit of the Care SOS Center from the existing 1.58 million KRW to 1.6 million KRW and provide closer care by linking various services such as case management and emergency support.
The Songpa-gu Care SOS Center is available to any Songpa-gu resident in urgent and temporary need of care (with a median income of 85% or less), and consultations and applications can be made at the local community service center of the resident's district.
