Dogecoin Price Surge Following Musk's Remarks
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, announced on the 14th that some Tesla products can now be purchased using the cryptocurrency Dogecoin.
Musk wrote on Twitter that "Tesla products can be purchased with Dogecoin." In December last year, Musk had declared that Tesla products would be available for payment with Dogecoin.
According to Reuters, some items such as the children's electric bike "Cyberquad" and the whistle souvenir "Cyberwhistle" can actually be purchased with Dogecoin at Tesla's online store. The site lists the Cyberquad priced at 10,220 Dogecoin and the Cyberwhistle at 300 Dogecoin.
According to the cryptocurrency site Coindesk, after Musk's statement, the price of Dogecoin surged about 11%. As of 4:24 PM Korean time, Dogecoin was priced at $0.202465, up 18.24% compared to 24 hours earlier.
