'Apartment Collapse Accident' Basement 1st Floor Discoverer Missing for 23 Hours
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The location of one missing person has been identified at the site of the apartment collapse accident in Gwangju, but rescue operations are struggling due to the large amount of falling debris.
The person has been buried for more than 23 hours since being first discovered on the third day of the search, and their life status and identity have not been confirmed.
According to the fire authorities on the 14th, from 7 a.m. that day, six organizations including the Central 119 Rescue Headquarters, 274 personnel, 43 pieces of equipment, and 8 search and rescue dogs have been deployed for search and rescue operations.
Among them, rescue activities for the missing person found at the stair railing on the basement first floor are being delayed due to piled materials and other obstacles. Currently, 71 rescue workers and 42 pieces of equipment such as hydraulic tools, cutting equipment, and ropes are being fully mobilized.
The current situation is that as of 7 a.m. the previous day, an access route was secured to allow equipment to reach the missing person's location, and by 5 a.m. that day, all concrete debris around the missing person was cleared.
In the first search results of the day, rescue dogs showed notable reactions on the 22nd, 25th, 26th, and 28th floors. However, due to lack of safety assurance, the rescue has not proceeded.
Assembly of a 1,200-ton mobile crane for dismantling the tower crane, a major obstacle in the search, is also set to begin. Hyundai Development Company plans to first reinforce the ground and assemble the crane (which will take approximately two days) once stability is secured. The actual dismantling work is expected to start from the 17th.
