China, US North Korea Sanctions "Frequent Sanctions... Not Helpful for the Korean Peninsula"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] Regarding the US government's sanctions on North Korea's hypersonic missile launch, the Chinese government stated that "resorting to sanctions at every turn does not help resolve the Korean Peninsula issue."
Wang Wenbin (汪文斌), spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded this way when asked to comment on the US imposing sanctions related to North Korea's recent missile launch during a regular briefing on the 13th.
Spokesperson Wang said, "China has consistently opposed any country excessively interfering with other countries under its domestic laws and imposing unilateral sanctions," adding, "Resorting to sanctions at every turn does not help resolve the Korean Peninsula issue."
He continued, "(Such sanctions) only escalate the confrontational atmosphere," urging, "Relevant parties should maintain cautious words and actions and adhere to the right direction of dialogue and negotiation."
He further stated, "The parties involved should do more to contribute to stability in the situation and build mutual trust," adding, "We hope to work together for the political resolution of the Korean Peninsula issue."
