[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam Province, has decided to provide disaster relief funds to all residents to support citizens struggling due to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
On the 13th, Hamyang County Governor Seo Chun-soo held a press conference in the small conference room at the county office and announced the support plan related to the 'COVID-19 Daily Recovery Support Fund.'
Governor Seo said, "While preventing the spread of COVID-19 remains important, direct and practical measures to respond to the COVID economic crisis are now necessary," adding, "Our county has decided to provide the 'COVID-19 Daily Recovery Support Fund' to all residents to support daily life for citizens and small business owners ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday."
Accordingly, as of January 11, 2022, approximately 38,300 people registered as residents of Hamyang-gun will be eligible, and 100,000 KRW per person will be provided to all residents. About 3.8 billion KRW from the county's contingency budget will be allocated for this.
Hamyang-gun plans to start disbursing the funds as much as possible before the Lunar New Year holiday and intends to provide the support through the 'Hamyang Love Gift Certificate' to revitalize the local economy.
Governor Seo Chun-soo stated, "To help the local economy regain vitality, the funds will be provided in the form of 'Hamyang Love Gift Certificates,' which can only be used within our region, thereby promoting local consumption and fostering a virtuous cycle in the local economy," and added, "We ask that you use them before the Lunar New Year holiday to give hope to small business owners."
Applications can be made by visiting the local town or township office, where applicants can receive the Hamyang Love Gift Certificates on the spot.
