Hapcheon-gun, Ministry of Land Announces 'Southern Inland Railroad Basic Plan'... Hapcheon Station Confirmed
Hapcheon Station on the Southern Inland Railroad Expected to Play a Foundational Role in Hapcheon County's 100-Year Development
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] Hapcheon-gun, Gyeongnam Province, expressed its welcome regarding the selection of Hapcheon Station in the ‘Southern Inland Railway Basic Plan’ announced by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (hereinafter MOLIT) on the 13th.
Through the announcement of the ‘Southern Inland Railway Basic Plan,’ MOLIT confirmed Hapcheon Station (near Seosan-ri, Hapcheon-eup) and included a plan to establish Haeinsa Station (tentative name) as a transfer station once the Dalbit Inland Railway (Gwangju-Daegu line) project is fully underway in the future.
Accordingly, the county plans to jointly commission a Southern Inland Railway-linked station area development plan service in January with Gyeongsangnam-do and the cities of Jinju, Tongyeong, Geoje, and Goseong-gun, where new stations will be established, in line with the Southern Inland Railway promotion schedule.
The commissioned service will systematically establish a development plan linked to the railway network upon the opening of the Southern Inland Railway, propose measures to revitalize station areas as regional economic hubs by building a metropolitan transportation network connected with roads, expanding cultural and tourism content, and include customized regional development strategies.
Moon Jun-hee, Mayor of Hapcheon-gun, stated, “We are very satisfied and welcome the selection of Hapcheon Station for the Southern Inland Railway,” adding, “Along with the soon-to-open Hamyang-Ulsan Expressway, the increase in logistics and tourist traffic will lay the foundation for our county’s development over the next 100 years.”
