Jeongeup-si Achieves Highest Grade in 'Personal Information Protection Management Level Diagnosis' for 5 Consecutive Years
[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 13th that it has achieved the highest grade of "Good" for five consecutive years in the "2021 Personal Information Protection Management Level Diagnosis" conducted by the Personal Information Protection Commission.
The personal information management level diagnosis is a system that evaluates personal information protection management systems, personal information protection measures, and personal information infringement countermeasures for 795 institutions including central government ministries, metropolitan and basic local governments, and public institutions.
It diagnoses a total of 21 items across 13 indicators in 3 fields and evaluates them in three grades: Good (90 points), Average (80 points), and Poor (70 points).
The city strengthened personal information protection education for all employees to comply with related regulations and protect valuable personal information in processing personal data.
Also, as cyber intrusion incidents such as personal information leaks and hacking have recently increased, the city has conducted mock drills for accident prevention, enhancing its capability to respond to sophisticated and routine cyber security threats and personal information infringements.
In particular, as a result of continuous efforts to strengthen administrative and technical security systems based on personal information protection and to guarantee the rights and interests of data subjects, the city has maintained the highest grade for five consecutive years from 2017 to last year.
A city official said, "As awareness of the importance of personal information protection is increasing, we will not be satisfied with the current level and will strive to establish a solid security system that citizens can trust."
