Lee Jung-jae "Happy and Tearful... Cherishing 'Ojingeo Game' for Extreme Acting Together"

[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Isul] Actor Lee Jung-jae shared his thoughts on being nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG).

On the 13th, Lee Jung-jae expressed through his agency Artist Company, "I am happy to be nominated in the ensemble category along with the cast of 'Ojingeo Game' (Squid Game)."

He continued, "The precious moments of sweating together with them while filming six extreme games and acting in intense situations are vividly remembered. It is a memory I will never forget," adding, "The nomination in the ensemble category is a precious emotion that will be remembered with tears."

Jeremy Strong, Kieran Culkin, and Brian Cox from 'Succession,' Billy Crudup from 'The Morning Show,' and Lee Jung-jae, who was nominated for Best Actor, said, "It is an honor and a great joy to be named alongside such excellent actors. We will share this honor of nomination with the fans of 'Ojingeo Game,' who believe in justice and warm human love."

Lee Jung-jae played the role of Seong Gi-hun in 'Ojingeo Game,' a character who participates in the game after receiving a mysterious business card during a life crisis. He was nominated for Best Actor at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, Golden Globes, Critics' Choice, and Gotham Awards.

The Netflix series 'Ojingeo Game' was nominated in four categories at the 28th Screen Actors Guild Awards on the 12th (local time): TV Series Best Actor (Lee Jung-jae), Best Actress (Jung Ho-yeon), Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble, and Outstanding Performance by a Stunt Ensemble. This is the first time a non-English language drama has been nominated.

In 2020, the film 'Parasite' (director Bong Joon-ho) team won the ensemble award, and in 2021, Youn Yuh-jung from 'Minari' (director Lee Isaac Chung) won the Best Supporting Actress award.
