LG Electronics Launches 'Home Ventilation System' Managing Air Quality with Artificial Intelligence
Industry's First System Air Conditioner Integration
Enhanced Hygiene Features and Low-Noise Operation
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hye-young] LG Electronics announced on the 13th that it will launch a home ventilation system that manages indoor air by analyzing indoor and outdoor environments using artificial intelligence.
The new product expels indoor air contaminated with fine dust and harmful bacteria to the outside and supplies clean outside air filtered through a filter into the home. Through the ventilation system, indoor ventilation is possible without opening windows even on days with severe fine dust or during heating and cooling.
In particular, LG's home ventilation system is equipped with artificial intelligence that operates in conjunction with system air conditioners for the first time in the industry. It analyzes not only outdoor environments such as external fine dust but also indoor air conditions measured by the Whisen air purifier system air conditioner, such as temperature and humidity, to find the optimal operating conditions. According to internal tests, when linked with the system air conditioner, the ventilation system removes indoor fine dust more than twice as fast compared to using the ventilation system alone.
LG Electronics also applied differentiated hygiene management functions to the new product. The home ventilation system features a UV nano function that automatically sterilizes the pre-filter, which primarily filters dust entering indoors, using UV LED. According to tests by the internationally accredited testing and certification organization TUV Rheinland, it removes 99.99% of harmful bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and bacteriophages that can adhere to the pre-filter.
Low noise is also an advantage. The noise generated during product operation is about 28-30 dB (decibels) in the special strong wind mode, which is lower than the library level (40 dB).
Additionally, by equipping a high-efficiency heat exchanger, heat loss of the air discharged outside can be significantly reduced. When ventilating by opening windows during indoor heating or cooling, most energy is lost, but using the LG home ventilation system helps reduce heating and cooling costs. According to experiments based on KS standards, about 60% of cooling energy and about 70% of heating energy are recovered through the heat exchanger.
The LG home ventilation system is equipped with a sensor that measures carbon dioxide levels in real time to automatically control ventilation volume. Also, the dual laser fine dust sensor monitors the fine dust concentration of the air supplied indoors in real time. When the fine dust concentration rises, it recognizes a decline in filter performance and sends a filter replacement notification via the LG ThinQ app.
This product can be installed in verandas, utility rooms, etc., and air passages can be embedded in the ceilings of various indoor spaces such as living rooms and bedrooms for use.
