Since 2008, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Ministry of Education have jointly promoted the "School Arts Instructor Support Project," which connects the arts field with public education by having artists visit schools to expand students' opportunities for cultural arts experiences and enhance cultural sensitivity. This year, 5,040 school arts instructors will collaborate with teachers to provide cultural arts education at 8,557 elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide.
This amendment includes provisions regarding ▲ the definition and support basis of school arts instructors ▲ the hiring authority of school arts instructors (Korea Arts & Culture Education Service) ▲ and stipulates that necessary matters for hiring, such as hiring criteria and hiring periods, will be determined by presidential decree, thereby covering matters related to the support of school arts instructors.
With this legal amendment, it is expected that the legal support basis for school arts instructors will be established to secure employment stability, and by specifying the education methods, hiring authorities, and hiring criteria, the "School Arts Instructor Support Project" can be systematically managed.
