Gochang-gun to Provide 'First Meeting Voucher' for Newborns Starting This Year... 2 Million KRW Per Person

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Gochang-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 11th that it will provide a ‘First Meeting Voucher’ worth 2 million KRW per person as a National Happiness Card voucher to babies born this year.

The county explained that this is to reduce the economic burden on parents raising children by providing additional support funds separately from the birth encouragement grant.

The recipients are children born this year who have been registered and assigned a resident registration number, and the same support can be received regardless of birth order, such as first or second child.

The voucher can be used for one year from the date of birth, and unused points will expire after the end date.

To apply for the First Meeting Voucher, one can visit the administrative welfare center in the town or township of the child’s registered address in person, or apply through the Bokjiro and Government24 websites.

Using the Happy Birth One-Stop Service allows for simultaneous application of birth registration and related allowances and services, making it convenient.

The county operates its own projects including birth encouragement grants, support for out-of-pocket expenses for maternal and newborn health care, provision of pregnancy and birth congratulatory supplies, support for delivery medical expenses at local obstetrics and gynecology clinics, postpartum health care support, and postpartum care cost support.

A county official said, “We congratulate all the children who brought hope to Gochang with the vigorous energy of the New Year ‘Black Tiger’ and hope they grow up healthy and strong,” adding, “We will strive to discover and support policies that provide practical help for making Gochang a good place to have and raise children.”
