Provision of Warrant Copies During Arrest and Search... Criminal Procedure Act Passes Judiciary Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] On the 10th, the 'Criminal Procedure Act Amendment Bill,' which requires presenting a warrant and providing a copy of the warrant when executing arrest or search and seizure, passed the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee.
That afternoon, the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee approved the partial amendment to the Criminal Procedure Act containing these provisions during a plenary session.
The amendment includes provisions to provide a copy of the warrant to the defendant when executing an arrest warrant and also to provide a copy of the warrant when executing a search and seizure warrant. However, exceptions will be made if providing a copy of the warrant is practically impossible or refused.

Along with this, the Legislation and Judiciary Committee also approved the 'Immigration Control Act Partial Amendment Bill,' which allows the Minister of Justice to extend the stay period ex officio when departure is prohibited due to emergencies or crises such as wartime, armed conflict, infectious disease outbreaks, border closures, or long-term suspension of flights.
