Seoul Reports Under 1,000 New COVID-19 Cases for Second Consecutive Day... 966 Confirmed Cases

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) announced on the 9th that the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Seoul on the 8th was 966.
This is 28 fewer than the 994 cases reported the previous day (7th) and 215 fewer than the 1,181 cases reported a week earlier (1st).
Among the new cases, 891 were domestic transmissions, and 75 were imported cases. The number of imported cases is the highest ever recorded since the COVID-19 outbreak began. The previous record was 66 cases reported on the 4th.
The daily number of cases in Seoul has been decreasing since reaching a record high of 3,165 on the 14th of last month. After social distancing measures were strengthened on the 18th, the number dropped to the 1,000 range starting from the 25th.

As of midnight on the 9th, the cumulative number of confirmed cases in Seoul was 235,415. The death toll increased by 21 the previous day, bringing the total to 1,955.
