Magnitude 6.9 Earthquake Strikes Qinghai Province, China... "Five Aftershocks Follow"
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] At around 1 a.m. on the 8th, a magnitude 6.9 earthquake occurred in Menyuan County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, northwest China.
According to the Qinghai Earthquake Bureau, the epicenter was located at 37.77 degrees north latitude and 101.26 degrees east longitude, with a focal depth of 10 km. Five aftershocks, including one of magnitude 5.1, occurred within an hour. Qinghai authorities have activated emergency response measures and are investigating the damage situation.

According to major Chinese media, no casualties have been reported so far. The media reported that the area within a 5 km radius of the epicenter is a high-altitude region with an average elevation of 3,675 meters, and relatively few people live near the epicenter.
