First Lady Kim Jung-sook Attends Exhibition of Artists with Developmental Disabilities..."A Nation Striving to Make Exhibitions Routine" (Comprehensive)
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] On the afternoon of the 7th, First Lady Kim Jung-sook visited the special invitational exhibition of Korean artists with developmental disabilities held at the Calligraphy Museum in the Seoul Arts Center.
This exhibition, showcasing over 100 works by 43 domestic artists with developmental disabilities, was organized under the theme "Getting Close" to convey the relentless passion of disabled artists moving toward their dreams.
At the pre-opening event held a day before the official exhibition opening, First Lady Kim carefully appreciated the more than 100 artworks and communicated with the artists about the meaning and creative process of their works.
When the mother of artist Lee Jin-won, who came from Jeju Island, expressed gratitude for being able to exhibit in such a space, First Lady Kim responded, "This should not just be a matter of gratitude; the government will strive harder to make such exhibitions a regular occurrence."
First Lady Kim said, "The works are so delicate that I cannot just pass by," and examined each painting meticulously. The exhibition viewing, originally scheduled for about an hour, extended well beyond the planned time.
