Gwangju Mayor Lee Yong-seop "Distribution of Self-Diagnosis Kits to Kindergartens and Others"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju City will provide 'self-diagnostic kits' free of charge to kindergartens and other institutions to respond to COVID-19.
Mayor Lee Yong-seop announced this during a COVID-19 response briefing on the 7th.
The mayor stated that self-diagnostic kits will be supplied to a total of 1,282 places including kindergartens and daycare centers, and suggested that if results are positive, the distribution will be expanded to other facilities.
He urged, "When suspected COVID-19 symptoms appear among workers and children at kindergartens, please use the self-diagnostic kits to conduct immediate testing."
He added, "If the test result is positive, please promptly visit the nearest screening clinic to receive a diagnostic test."
The city plans to strictly manage facilities by restricting their use for two weeks if Omicron cases occur.
The mayor said, "Please be especially careful to prevent close contact among children during meals or learning activities," and added, "During January, please refrain from special activities, group activities, and outdoor activities as much as possible."
He also stated, "In cooperation with the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, we will thoroughly inspect compliance with basic quarantine rules and the disinfection status of school buses," and "During the winter vacation, we will strengthen guidance and inspections of youth facilities such as academies, reading rooms, and study cafes."
